There are three factors in brassiere measuring. After you have consulted with Au Naturel, you are ready to be measured and fitted with a brassiere. The bra measuring information that is described below is just a GUIDE; equally important are two other factors: Looking at your overall chest area and your common sense.
Start by determining bra size. Best done with bra on. Measure around the bra band.
To this measurement, add 5 inches if the number is odd or add 6 inches if the number is even. |

For example, if you measure 29 inches, add 5 inches and you get 34 inches.
When you measure 33 inches or over, add 3 inches instead of 5 inches. 3" odd | 4" even.
After 36 inches, think of adding in 1 inch increments.

29 Inches (Band Measurement)
5 Inches + (or 6 Inches)

To determine cup size, measure from the sternum over the fullest part of the remaining breast to the center of the back. Best to measure over the bra.
Once you have this measurement, double it. Don't round up or down.

Subtract band size from cup measurement to determine cup size.

About Brassiere Alterations
Sometimes the bra will gap in the underarm area of the affected side. A dart in the side of the bra can easily solve this problem.
For pocketing, a cotton cover can be tacked into the cup. A running stitch or basting stitch is sufficient. To find proper placement of the cover, position the cover in the cup with the breast form in it. Be sure to remove the form before stitching in the pocket. |
